Mission Statement
Inspiring Impactful Change in rural Zimbabwe and Nottingham, UK.
Compassion for Communities was set up to improve life conditions and promote sustainable economic empowerment of disadvantaged communities in Nottingham and Zimbabwe.
We facilitate beneficiary-led needs assessment and project delivery while promoting the Christian values of compassion, generosity and unity.
Our vision is to facilitate the establishment of community gardens with drip irrigation systems and a greenhouse to allow for all-year-round productivity and sustainable profitability leading to economic empowerment. Communities we support can become food secure and resilient in the face of adverse environmental conditions due to climate change.
Our work
A Distinct Identity
Here at Compassion for Communities, we are driven to do our part in making the world a better place. Since 2017 we have supported community gardens in Zimbabwe resulting in economic empowerment of individuals, households and communities. We strive to build productive relationships and make a positive impact with all of our projects. Are you ready to join us and create sustainable transformation in the lives of so many?
Local Empowerment
Making Change Possible
Local Empowerment at Compassion for Communities is about communities exercising power in deciding the priorities for their development to meet their needs. Funders become facilitators of local initiatives implemented through local cooperation.
Capacity Building
Change for the Better
Through our Capacity Building program, we have the potential to make real and positive change. This is one of our key areas of focus here at Compassion for Communities, and a source of much success for our Christian Charity Organization.
Sustainability
Lasting Impact
Compassion for Communities encourages inter generational participation within the communities that we support. All our projects are focused on ensuring continuity and a lasting impact.
Economic Empowerment
Transforming Lives
Compassion for Communities promotes entrepreneurship and challenges the communities to aspire beyond subsistence horticulture and seek markets for their produce without involving middlemen.
Community Cohesion
Empowering Others
Compassion for Communities is dedicated to the whole Mkhombo village community. The whole community has free access to clean water from the garden borehole. This has strengthened community cohesion and unity.

Greenhouse Farming- Next Aspiration
Building from the success story thus far, Mkhombo Community Gardeners have set their sights on being a successful community business. They have expressed the desire to build a greenhouse which will revolutionise their productivity and sustainability.
Greenhouse cultivation will allow them to produce crops all year round in a controlled environment free from pests and diseases, protected from the impact of climate change.
Please support this project by donating and sharing the information with your friends, colleagues and families.

Compassion for Communities: Dedication and Service with Proven Impact
In 2018, Compassion for Communities supported the Dibutibu Village Community by purchasing a wire mesh fence and roofing materials for the toilets at the garden. The fence provided security and protection from livestock and wild animals which were destroying the crops. The support was a stepping stone for the garden to be more productive and supply fresh vegetables to the hotel and restaurants at the famous Victoria Fall Holiday Resort.
Please donate to make a difference to the community of Mkhombo Village.

News Update
On Wednesday the 4th of September, 2023, representatives from Midlands State University (MSU) Agronomy Department visited Ekukhanyeni Nutrition Garden.
The purpose of the visit was to explore how the university could work together with the gardeners in specific areas that will meet the obligations of the university in engaging communities in promoting sustainable development.
The visit was a follow up to a presentation by Dr Joseph Zulu to the Agronomy Department earlier in the year.
A background paper outlining the history of the garden had been put together with the help of the gardeners and submitted to the university.
It is hoped that this may be the beginning of a fruitful partnership that will bring professional support and expertise to the garden.
Discussions on the way forward will be held in due course.
In the meantime the university team will submit a report with proposals for discussion with the newly appointed board of Trustees of Compassion for Communities Zimbabwe.
Don’t miss out on an update.

Following a demonstration of resilience and hard work by the Mkhombo Village Community Gardeners in Lower Gweru, Zimbabwe, Compassion for Communities in collaboration with Intuba (a US-based charity), installed a drip irrigation system with borehole water now available all year round.
The gardeners now want to build a Greenhouse which will provide protection for their crops in a controlled environment, free from pests, diseases and adverse weather conditions due to climate change.
The greenhouse will lead to increased productivity, higher profitability and greater economic empowerment for the whole community. More households will be able to send their children to school and provide them with all the education resources needed.
Help us to make a lasting impact on the Mkhombo village community.
